Meral Sartekin, originally from Turkey, left to study abroad in Zurich, Switzerland where she married Halil. In 1992 they founded their boutique Kelim and began designing jewelry inspired by the beautiful patterns in traditional Turkish carpets and the natural beauty of Switzerland. After their initial success they established an atelier in Istanbul where highly trained craftsmen bring their designs to life.
